ULL's Women Organizing Women originated from the Louisiana State University group of the same name. Both sister chapters share an affiliation with the national organization the Feminist Majority Foundation, which provides support and resources to feminist campus organizations.
Women Organizing Women focuses on woman-centered advocacy: taking women's perspectives to advocate for social justice and change. We believe that how you advocate is just as important as what you do, and student and faculty advisers work to empower members by living the changes we seek in the world. W.O.W. is a unique campus organization in that we utilize feminist principles to creation action and positive change on our campus. As activists, we implement the principles of social justice through a process of involvement where every member's opinion is valued and included equally.
WOW leadership consists of two permanent faculty advisors and three rotating student advisors. Numerous project leaders oversee individual campus projects. Anyone with an idea for campus action may become a project leader. Project leaders are provided leadership training and resources with information on campus activism. These resources include the leadership training manual available for free download on the Liberating Lit section of our website.
